Fast & Furious: Contempt Charges for Eric Holder; Attkisson FOIA

Daryl Issa, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, has prepared a 48 page document declaring that Eric Holder has committed Contempt of Congress for his and DOJ's failure to adequately response to the Committee's document requests. Issa has not filed the contempt citation, but will soon.  Apparently Republican leadership have blessed the action.

While Holder has testified 7 times to the committee and asserts that the dozens of witnesses he has made available are sufficient, excusing himself by hiding behind the "ongoing investigation" by the DOJ's Inspector General.  However, dozens more witnesses are desired by the Committee.  And the 6000 pages of heavily redacted documents so far provided are but a fraction of the 70,000 pages believed to be available to the IG.  Congressman Trey Gowdy, a Committee member, says Holder has until Memorial day to produce the documents and witnesses.

Sharyl Atkisson, the excellent reporter at CBS News, who has been covering Fast and Furious for more than a year, on Friday announced a rare event.  She received a response from ATF and DOJ for a FOIA request about F&F she made months ago.
