My Hero: Milton Friedman

I spent some time today watching my hero, Milton Friedman.  I needed the reinforcement of principle.

This one video is a good review for today’s situations, taped in 1999.   Milton about Clinton, Social Security, etc.

I suggest you Google "Milton Friedman" and then just start watching as many of the short videos you find.  There are many topics, all still relevant today.

Hillary's Email Scandal 2 - Staffers Participate in Email Coverup

How did Hillary actually set up an email server in her home?  Well, first she used the IT guy that was assigned as her tame computer expert.  Then she used her staff to manage her emails.

So, did all of these people know that they were doing something wrong and contrary to Federal Code (including 18USC798) and State Department rules?  Of course they did.  But, you don't disagree with Hillary and risk facing her mean and vindictive anger.  And, as far as I have seen, none of her staff held sufficient security clearances to handle her mail.

IT Guy: Bryan Pagliano.  His State Dept. job was to be Hillary's IT expert.  He worked as her IT director during her 2008 campaign.  Then he was hired by State in May 2009 as special projects manager to the Chief Tech Officer.  He had responsibility for setup and maintenance of her personal servers.  The proof that he knew about the impropriety is that he has now invoked his 5th Amendment right to not self-incriminate himself after being subpoenaed by Trey Gowdy's House Select Committee on Benghazi.  In addition, he did not report on his taxes or ethics forms about the income.  He left this job when she finished as Secretary.  See here:  Former-staffer-who-maintained-hillary-clintons-private-email-server-to-plead-the-fifth

Staffer 1:  Huma Mahmood Abedin, wife of Anthony Wiener.  Close confidant.  Deputy Chief of Staff to Clinton as a special government employee." Staffer 2:  Cheryl Mills - She helped to delete emails from the infamous 70,000.  No sufficient security clearance?  See here:  aides-hillary-clinton-testify-benghazi   She gave nine hours of closed testimony on September 3, 2015.

Lawyer:  David Kendall has known both Clintons since their days at Yale.  He defended Bill during his impeachment hearings.  Kendall is known to have held, in a safe delivered by the State Dept, thumb drive(s) containing copies of Hillary's email server data.  Kendall similarly does not hold sufficient security clearance to have these in his possession.

So, how many people are potentially in trouble for handling, modifying, passing on sensitive emails?  At the least we have Pagliano, Mills, Abedin, and Hillary's lawyer.  There must be many others in State and other groups.   Someone removed the "Secret" banners from several emails (felony).  Many must have selected emails for Hillary to manage the flow of traffic (misdemeanor or felony depending on classification).  Several at State obviously knew she had the personal servers and didn't report the offenses (felonies?).  And on and on...

Milwaukee Police Chief Tells The Truth about Violence

In the perspective of the Michael Brown incident, and the vilification of Officer Wilson, this video by the Milwaukee police chief makes an oft-missed point about the realities of violence in the black community and in some large cities.

As counterpoint to all the protestations that are being made across the country by those who misguidedly believe that Micheal Brown needs to be avenged, why is it that there is so little caring, or indeed news coverage, for the 29 teenagers (13 - 19) who died in Chicago since Micheal Brown died?  Maybe because most of the murderers were also black?

It is interesting that these sites disagree on actual numbers.  EXCEPT, that the numbers are horribly high.

So, continuing my investigation, here is another site that has numbers similar to Brietbart, but the 244 number is for teens were shot and injured, while 29 teens were killed and total murders of all ages were 155 (74% black males).   http://heyjackass.com/  My impression is that Heyjackass has the best numbers, but I have not tried comparing to Chicago PD stats.

An scary stat on the Heyjackass site is the clearance rate for murders.  Only about 1/3 result in charges. 

Another stat of note:  Almost 80% of victims are black, while almost 69% of attackers are black.

Fast & Furious: Finally Proof that Eric Holder and White House Covered Up

Judicial Watch last week finally received the thousands of document they have been fighting for in Court for two years.

Oops, sorry, not the documents themselves!  But they have received the Vaughn Index.  This is the index of all the documents that the Government did not release because President Obama claimed Executive Privilege.

From this index it is obvious that many of the documents and emails are actually not covered by executive privilege.  Such as, emails between Eric Holder and his wife where they discuss how they are working on keeping the documents from becoming public. 

This process began when Eric Holder was about to be held in Contempt of Congress and Obama declared executive privilege in an attempt to protect the Attorney General for stonewalling Congress.  Holder resigned in August, two days after a judge agreed that the Vaughn Index (1307 pages) and the documents (15662) must be released.

Yes, AG Eric Holder has finally released 64,280 pages of documents to the House Oversight Committee.  These are the ones mentioned in the Vaughn Index above.  Now we will really learn the  truth of Holder's malfeasance, of DOJ's obstructionism, and of the White House's part in this scandal.

Victor Davis Hanson - Perspectives that Make Sense

VDH is a college professor of History and a political commentator.  Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University; his focus is classics and military history. He has had a long career in education.  He speaks and writes about history and current affairs, mostly from a principled conservative viewpoint that emphasizes that strong history of California and America in depending on freedom and market systems. He lives in Selma near Fresno and farms the family farm.

Today Jim Franklin on his KMJ Fresno radio show replayed a speech by VDH given at  the Sunbird Conservative Conference on April 14, 2014 in Fresno.  VDH talks about American exceptional-ism and the ways the liberal "collective" is destroying the American work ethic and conventional political structures.  Link to come:

I admire VDH a lot becasue he can express in simple terms many of the basic current problems facing the country and the conservative movement.  In addition, VDH is uniquely relevant to the California Central Valley population because he grew up, lives and works here.  

Benghazi Scandal: Judicial Watch Gets WH Emails

The White House has been lying about Benghazi and the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three operators for 20 months now.  Finally, after a FOIA lawsuit in court, Judicial Watch has gotten the smoking gun emails that show the WH worked hard to cover up the truth.

And what of the Judicial Watch emails?   Well, Congress has approved and investigation headed by Congressman Trey Goudy, a former prosecutor.  And discrepancies in the releases seem to indicate more cover-up and more documents that have not been released.

From the above:  "The Rhodes email was sent on sent on Friday, September 14, 2012, at 8:09 p.m. with the subject line:  “RE: PREP CALL with Susan, Saturday at 4:00 pm ET.”  The documents show that the “prep” was for Amb. Rice’s Sunday news show appearances to discuss the Benghazi attack.
The document lists as a “Goal”: “To underscore that these protests are rooted in and Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.”
Rhodes returns to the “Internet video” scenario later in the email, the first point in a section labeled “Top-lines”:

[W]e’ve made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message."

Background:  The White Huse released some initial documents about Benghazi last year, but not all.  It took Judicial Watch a year and a FOIA request that had to be resolved in court to obtain the latest emails.  

Once again, the "most transparent administration" is proving to be one of the least transparent.

History Repeating Itself - Missiles from Iran

And our President wants to make nice...!!!

Note the first paragraph about the Karine-A in 2002.  Now we have the Klos-C, carrying missiles to Sudan and eventually Sinai, where they are easily in range of Israel.  Each missile carries up to 100 kg of explosive and has a range of 120 km.

And over the years there have been at least 3 other ships stopped that were carrying arms from Iran.

Will Obama understand the history?  Will he stand tough?  Or will he once again try to play nice and thus let Iran run all over him?

Six Californias

California is a huge state, with 39 million diverse people. It has had so much good happen to it that many don’t seem to realize that now is not its finest hour. One proposal to solve some of the problems is to split the state into pieces. This could make the resulting smaller states easier to govern, more responsive to their citizens, more able to be competitive with other states, etc. Think of how, once again, California could even shake up the federal system for the better.

I like the idea – at least it deserves to be talked about. Maybe it should be a ballot initiative?

Common Core: Education Salvation or Commie Core?

Many States in the U.S. are implementing a new teaching methodology and set of standards called Common Core. I have been observing the pros and cons and arguments on both sides. Given my usual distrust of big government solutions, my predilection is to identify with the anti-CC side. But people I respect (like Mike Huckabee) are supportive of it.

In California, CC has being implemented swiftly and without feedback from the voters. CA stands to get a lot of money from the Feds and no doubt that is a driver. I spoke to Mr. Garagarza last week, the principle of the new Sierra Foothills Charter School in Mariposa, who said he liked CC. Of course our conversation was very limited.

Today I came across this video from Utah. It contains the best description of reasons and philosophy of why one should appose CC that I have seen to date. For me the greatest danger presented here is loss of local control. The statement that elected school boards no longer represent citizens as concerns education is terrifying.

Now, why should I care? I don't have kids in school. Only my taxes are at risk. Not so fast: I hope to have grandkids one day and they will be affected. I have friends whose kids are being affected. I have a love for this country and I fear for the future of the Constitutional process when oligarchies (private companies and organizations as well as political leadership cabals) can take over education, on the belief that they are the holders of the keys to the perfect utopia.

Now, you might say, "Jay, you're being a scare monger."  Maybe, maybe not.  I have recently begun to apply this test to things:  "What if only 50% of what they are saying is true or applicable?"  Wouldn't you still have to say there is something to be concerned about here? 

One last thing:  CC includes a cradle to career student data collection scheme, with little security and broad distribution to data users.  They accomplished this by changing the definitions of privacy law to become broad based and squishy.  Watch the last video at minute 50.

So many accuse conservatives for not liking President Obama because he is a black man.  I strongly disagree that race has anything at all to do with my disappointment with Obama.  It is his politics, his policies, his ideology that I can't stand and that I believe is dangerous for this country.  Sen. Guillory shows why the Black community should awaken and see the reality that is Obama and his administration. 

Obama not a Lawyer?

Something I had never heard before and will never hear from teh MSM:  Both Barack and Michelle Obama no longer hold valid Illinois law licenses.  Barack voluntarily surrendered his in 2008, while Michelle surrendered hers in 1993.  I just obtained this from the Illinois ARDC web site:

The following was sent to me to make me aware of this.  While it sounds like one of the usual atttempts at slander, it appears to hold a lot of truth.  The parts about thte licences is most important, because the Left loves to trumpet that our President is a Constitutional lawyer.  Apparently not so much any more.  The examples from 7. are all nice corroborations but not really proof of anything but that he should stick to his teleprompter.

The info on Michelle is disturbing.  I hope she learned some lessons..

I knew they had both lost their law license, but I didn't know why until I read this.

This is 100% legit. I check it out at https://www.iardc.org/ Stands for Illinois Attorney Registration And Disciplinary Committee. It's the official arm of lawyer discipline in Illinois ; and they are very strict. (Talk about irony.) Even I, at the advanced age of almost 65, maintain (at the cost of approximately $600/year) my law license that I worked so hard and long to earn.

Former Constitutional Law Lecturer and U.S. President Makes Up Constitutional Quotes During State Of The Union (SOTU) Address.

1. President Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is no longer a "lawyer". He surrendered his license back in 2008 in order to escape charges he lied on his bar application. A "Voluntary Surrender" is not something where you decide "Gee, a license is not really something I need anymore, is it?" and forget to renew your license. No, a "Voluntary Surrender" is something you do when you've been accused of something, and you 'voluntarily surrender" your license five seconds before the state suspends you.

2 Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993, after a Federal Judge gave her the choice between surrendering her license or standing trial for Insurance fraud!
