The People's Business: How Not to Do It, the Harry Reid Way

"Three Years Since Harry Reid Passed a Budget

Today is a sad anniversary. It’s been THREE YEARS since Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats passed a budget. Three years of using the taxpayer’s credit card with NO PLAN of how to pay the bill.  Senator Reid even had the audacity to tell the LA Times: “there's no need to have a Democratic budget in my opinion. It would be foolish for us to do a budget at this stage."

How long is three years without a budget? The last time Harry Reid passed a budget, Tiger Woods was happily married. Cleveland still loved LeBron James.  And this decentralized grassroots movement of concerned Americans that became “the Tea Party”, was only in its infancy."

The above is thanks to FreedomWorks, a Tea Party Organization.   And here is the picture we all want to see:

Fast & Furious: Contempt Charges for Eric Holder; Attkisson FOIA

Daryl Issa, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, has prepared a 48 page document declaring that Eric Holder has committed Contempt of Congress for his and DOJ's failure to adequately response to the Committee's document requests. Issa has not filed the contempt citation, but will soon.  Apparently Republican leadership have blessed the action.

While Holder has testified 7 times to the committee and asserts that the dozens of witnesses he has made available are sufficient, excusing himself by hiding behind the "ongoing investigation" by the DOJ's Inspector General.  However, dozens more witnesses are desired by the Committee.  And the 6000 pages of heavily redacted documents so far provided are but a fraction of the 70,000 pages believed to be available to the IG.  Congressman Trey Gowdy, a Committee member, says Holder has until Memorial day to produce the documents and witnesses.

Sharyl Atkisson, the excellent reporter at CBS News, who has been covering Fast and Furious for more than a year, on Friday announced a rare event.  She received a response from ATF and DOJ for a FOIA request about F&F she made months ago.
See the information filled result here, NOT:  doj_foia_response_1-2.pdf

Irony or Insanity?

The food stamp program , part of the Department of Agriculture , is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Bluff Calling: Judge Smith Asks Obama Lawyer to Back up the President's Words

This is one of those, It's about time!, sorts of things.  On Monday the President insulted the Supreme Court Justices by strongly implying that "unelected" judges would be doing something "unprecedented" if they struck down a law (Obamacare) that Congress has passed.  Besides being an insult to SCOTUS, the President displayed once again his apparent ignorance of, or disdain for, the Constitution.  Of course Marbury v. Marshall is the 200 year-old case law and many laws have been stricken since for being unconstitutional.

So on Tuesday, Judge Jerry Smith of the Fifth Circuit instructed a DOJ lawyer to provide a "single-spaced, three page" letter detailing why the President might not have misspoken.  I can't wait to see the result.

Scandals: Another Solar Flare Burns Out - SolarTrust Bankruptcy

Wow, once again a sweetheart of the DOE and the Obama Administration has failed to work any magic of a realistic financial type.  Solar Trust of America, LLC has filed for bankruptcy protection in US court after its German parent did the same.  And one would think that loan guarantees of $2.1 Billion from DOE would be enough to keep them afloat so they could build their dream - the world's largest solar plant in the Mojave near Blythe, Ca.  Oops, wrong again.  Way to go Steven Chu!

Cavuto Glues it Down: How a Superpower Ought To Act!

You know how I know China's going be the top economic power on the planet?
They "want" to be the top economic power on the planet.
And you know how I know we're "not" going to be the top economic power on the planet?
We "don't" want to be the top economic power on the planet.
It's as simple as that.
Because if you're going all out to be number one, you're going all "in" on everything it takes to "be" number one.
Super powers "blitz," they don't "bounce."
China's blitzing. We're bouncing.
China's blitzing on every drop of oil it can find wherever it can find it.
We're bouncing around on oil, ignoring vast tracts of land where we know we have it.
China has less oil than we do but now it owns the top individual producer of it.
PetroChina is number one because China's all in.
ExxonMobil's now number two because we still can't figure it out.
China pummels its companies to expand abroad.
We punish our companies that expand abroad.
China doesn't care where the sales come from, as long as they come back to China.
We have a huge issue where the sales come from, even when they come back to us.
China doesn't much care how many workers its companies hire abroad.
As long as those foreign workers know who hired 'em, and who's paying 'em back home.
China figures it all comes back to China.
We figure it all better stay here.
China gets capitalism.
We apparently forgot capitalism.
China makes partnerships that benefit China.
We make partnerships that benefit no one.
China's minting wealth at ten times our rate.
We rip wealth and all but say being rich doesn't rate.
China pushes its workers to produce more than anyone on Earth.
Half our citizens here are on the government dole...about the highest percentage on earth.
China's now conquering space.
We've given up on space.
China's talking about going to Mars.
We're still building bridges to nowhere.
China's playing to win.
We're playing to lose.
China seizes on our mistakes.
We keep making mistakes.
China comes to Canada to say, we'll buy your oil.
Within hours of our canceling Keystone...
All but telling Canada, the hell with your oil.
We alienate our friends...
And embolden our enemies.
China cozies up to our friends, and has 'em thinking, Americans are the enemies.
Super powers aren't subtle.
Sometimes they don't only carry a big stick. They use it.
We've lost our big stick. Because I really think we forgot we ever had it.
Super powers see the future through the present.
We're losing the future because we're botching the present.
Bashing wealth as if it's a bad name....
While China's creating wealth for countless names.
China's in it to win it and piles up surpluses faster than it can count them.
We're in it to botch it, piling up deficits faster than we can deal with them.
But we don't deal. We don't take the ball and run. We just kick the ball...and pray.
China just makes deals.
And right now they're running with the ball. And just kicking...our ass.
It's amazing...absolutely amazing.
