With 4500 federal laws and 300,000 regulations, the ways that government can make you a criminal are too many for any of us to understand or know about. It used to be that ignorance of the law was no excuse. Nowadays, ignorance should be an excuse because full or even partial knowledge is impossible. In addition, too many laws and regulations criminalize instead of caution and are so vague that normal people would not consider the prohibitions contained in them to be real offenses under most circumstances.
